How long does a Magento 2 integration take?

A typical implementation takes 4-8 weeks from start to launch. The timeline depends on the number of product series, the state of your 3D files and the integrations you need.

What does our Magento developer or agency need to do?

We set up the integration and the configurator. Your developers or your agency embed the configurator in your Magento theme with an iframe, and we supply documentation and work with them during the implementation. The configurator runs on a subdomain of your own domain, because add to cart relies on cookies that the browser only accepts when the configurator and your store share the same main domain.

How do product data and prices get from Magento to the configurator?

Through the integration, so you keep maintaining prices in Magento. The configurator can read product data from Magento's GraphQL API, or Magento can push products and options to the Planner Studio API.

How does a configuration get into the Magento cart?

When the customer adds the configuration to the cart, it goes into the Magento cart with its price. Checkout, payment and order handling stay in Magento. When a customer saves a configuration, the configurator sends a 6-digit configuration code with title, description and price out of the iframe, so your store can keep it and open it again later.

Does it work across store views, languages and currencies?

Yes. Multi-language and multi-currency are included. The embed URL carries the market, and the market decides the currency and the prices shown. Each store view embeds the configurator with its own market. SOFACOMPANY runs its configurator in 9 markets from a Magento store.

Will the configurator slow down our product pages?

The configurator loads only where it is embedded. We recommend a separate configurator page per product family, opened from a Customize button on the product page, so the product page keeps its current load time. Category pages can link to the same configurator page.

Can we use the 3D models we already have?

We work with the 3D models you have: GLB files (preferred) or .blend master files, and production CAD often counts too. If you use Cylindo, the configurator can fetch your 3D files from there. If you only have photos, we build the models from 4-5 high-resolution photos per module plus dimensions.

What does it cost?

Pricing is a monthly platform base plus a price per product series, and the per-series price decreases as you add more series. The Magento integration is included at every size. Setup is a one-off amount per series, reduced or waived when your 3D files are usable, and you get it as a fixed from-to quote. The price estimator on our pricing page gives an indicative figure for your range in under two minutes.
